Artist Statment:
I am passionate about the medium of watercolour. Sometimes there are surprises, whichoften become intresting additions to the painting. I paint in a realistic style and perfer to use only transparnet pigment, building layers that glow. I choose to paint subjects closely connected with the intricacies of nature; the perfection of the tiniest items intrigus me. A snail in a garden, a cluster of tiny mushrooms and skeletonized leaves are some of my recent subjects. I am also interested in capturing some of our "disappearing" landscapes, unspoiled grasslands, wetlands, old buildings.
Recently I have begun painting watercolour monotypes, using a printing press. This process is fascinating and the end result is often a complete surprise.
Kate started Painting in 1999 when she retired from working as school secretary at Carmi Elementary and continuously hones her skilld by attending workshops
