

Chardonnay 2010
ABOUT THE WINE
Picked over several days in October, our 2010 Chardonnay was whole cluster pressed to extract a clean, pure fruit expression. For added depth of flavour and complexity a small portion of the wine was exposed to American oak. To further enhance the mouth-feel the wine was also aged Sur Lie. To preserve the acidity, malolactic fermentation was not encouraged.
TASTING NOTES
Wow, this rooster really makes a presence within the flock. Straw yellow colour with an aromatic nose of perfectly ripe fruit suggesting sweet red apple, Bartlett pear, melon, and tropical fruit. This medium-bodied Chardonnay has a smooth almost creamy mouth-feel at first approach, then a splash of refreshing acidity jumps in to refresh. Even more fresh fruit flavours appear on the palate with notes of tropical fruit, peach and pear. Refreshing notes of citrus, green apple and pineapple are accented by spice and a touch of oak on the finish. Drink while young and fresh.
FOOD PAIRINGS
Serve with roasted chicken; turkey with creamy aioli on crusty rolls; coconut shrimp skewers; crab or lobster salads; crab cakes with mayo dipping sauce; pan-fried fish fillets; grilled asparagus spears with melted butter.
