BIOGRAPHY
Lawrence was born in Regina & made the move to BC in 1986. He settled in Kelowna, & moved to Penticton in 1991 with his wife Kena,
where he discovered a keen interest in sculpting.
“His creative process is driven by the transformation of steel, a cold rigid material, into sculptures, which are lively, fluid & dance.” Large figurative work is his passion, a self taught sculptor, he plasma cuts, welds, grinds, torches & bends mild steel to create his art. For his mixed media work he incorporates granite, copper & glass & has dabbled in mosaic work.
His work has been exhibited at The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Penticton Art Gallery, The Art Ark, Kelowna, Artevo, Calgary & Hambleton Galleries, Kelowna. Currently his work is displayed at the Van Dop Gallery, New Westminster, Artworks Gallery, Vancouver, Red Rooster Gallery, Penticton, Butchart Gardens, Victoria and their home gallery/sculpture garden.
His artwork is found in collections throughout Canada, the United States, the Bahamas & Germany.
