At Red Rooster Winery, we are supporters of the arts community. In our wineshop we showcase the work of a number of permanent displaying artists. Come in and see more of these great artists' works as well as each month's featured artists.

A long time resident of the Okanagan Similkameen region Dave has shown his work throughout the province in solo and as part of larger group shows. Dave has studied at UBC and also trained in workshops led by many internationally renowned artists. He currently works out of his Penticton studio specializing in Okanagan area watercolors.
Michael Hermesh

Photographer: Alphons Witteman

Although we have exhibited numerous Michael Hermesh sculptures at Red Rooster, none has commanded the attention and, perhaps, notoriety that "Frank" the Baggage Handler has received. The Baggage Handler was originally installed as an outdoor sculpture in Penticton, but after some controversy was left looking for a new home. Red Rooster's founders offered the winery as a new home for "Frank," welcoming him in June of 2005.

Michael has exhibited his sculpture throughout the Okanagan, the Lower Mainland, and in Alberta. You can see many of his works in our gallery, all having in common what Michael describes as a portrayal of the dynamic aspect of living. For more information visit www.michaelhermesh.com.

Lawrence & Kena Cormier are a creative duo who met in 1991, which is when their adventures began. Lawrence is a self taught artist. Kena has studied in the Fine Arts program at OUC, her previous background being batik and fashion design.

Focusing on mild steel as their medium they create their sculptures using rod, flat and sheet metal. They weld, grind and plasma cut the metal transforming this foreboding material into sculptures which are lively, fluid and dance. Lawrence’s passion is in creating figurative sculpture. We have created a sculpture garden where many of his artworks can be viewed. Kena prefers the two dimensional plane, introducing colour to her wall art. Constantly brainstorming, their work is fun, often whimsical and communicates to others their joy of life. To view more artwork visit www.cormierstudio.com

Exhibitions have included Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Art Gallery of the South Okanagan, Mission Hill Winery, Red Rooster Winery, Hambleton Gallery - Kelowna, The Art Ark – Kelowna, BC Festival of the Arts – Expo 86, Artists of the World Gallery – Calgary.

Janis Blyth

Janis was born in Victoria and attended art lessons, as a child, at the Victoria Art Gallery. Her love of art continued to flourish and she graduated, with honors, from the University of Victoria with a degree in Fine Arts. In 1982, Janis moved to Vancouver where she worked in retail clothing for many years. Janis’ long history in retail is greatly reflected in her canvasses. The dressing of a customer is similar to creating a character in her paintings.

Janis’ paintings incorporate all her experiences as well as her love of nature. They are rich in color and statement, often depicting women in humorous, and soulful reflection. Janis works mostly with acrylic on canvas, but sometimes she goes astray and paints one-of-a-kind painted objects.

Janis has displayed her work in many group and solo art shows. The City of North Vancouver has Janis’ artwork displayed in their City Hall, and the Centennial Theatre. In Vancouver, Janis’ work is displayed in the Vancouver Breast Cancer Foundation.

Jennifer Garant
Born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Jennifer Garant began her formal art education in 1977 at the College of Marin near San Francisco, then continued her studies at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta.  In 1986 she won the Expo '86 Water Color Competition held during the 1986 World Exposition in Vancouver.  Jennifer's work has been commissioned by collectors around the world, from public and private organizations to corporations and celebrities, and has been shown and collected by galleries throughout the USA and Canada.

Jennifer's work expresses the exuberance and joy found in a life lived to the fullest.  Jennifer took on the task of creating the largest mural in North America for Vancouver General Hospital.  It consisted of twenty-one panels, each fourteen feet high and thirty-six feet long.  Jennifer worked alone for six months, forty feet above the ground, with only the aid of a crew to shift the swinging scaffold.

Her vibrant paintings of waiters and chefs caught up in culinary enthusiasm keep pace with the ongoing interest and good food and wine, and the central place cuisine takes in the quest for joyful living.

Today Jennifer Garant lives on Okanagan Lake in the interior of British Columbia.  Here, surrounded by orchards and vineyards, she continues to bring us a collection of her fun loving characters, all of whom are never far from good food and fine wines
